Come join us for the ANNUAL LIGHTING OF THE VILLAGE CHRISTMAS TREE in Ayton at the Centennial Hall on Saturday, November 30 for a fun-filled afternoon. Children, begin with a Make and Take Christmas craft (1 – 3 p.m.) at the NORMANBY School with the NORMANBY Optimists. Call 519-665-2137 to save a place. Santa is rumoured to make an appearance there! Then, move to the NORMANBY Centennial Hall between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. for complimentary horse and wagon rides from there. While at the hall, enjoy a chili supper, sampling entries from the chili-cook-off ($2 a bowl) and samples from the apple pie and chocolate cake contest ($2 a slice) along with coffee and apple cider. Games will be available such as crokinole and cards for kids and adults. At 5:30, the Holstein Belles will lead a sing-song around the Christmas tree (newly planted at the ball park) with Christmas and winter songs. Following this, the Christmas Tree will be illuminated. People can return to the hall to enjoy some hot chocolate and cookies. Everyone is invited to go skating at the arena at 7 p.m. to round out a great day.
