Organization Description:

Bruce Grey Mentorship is a local non-profit charity that serves the areas of Brockton, Hanover and West Grey. We are a volunteer led community organization for children and youth in need of additional guidance and support. As a resource for families in need, BGM is designed to establish mentoring opportunities for our clients with local positive adult mentors who can spend time with them and encourage their development.

Our program involves individual adult and child matches, group mentoring programs and school-based mentoring. These programs promote the development of social skills, higher academic engagement and becoming positive members of the community.

Mission Statement :

To match children and youth, who will benefit, with mentors who will help them build confidence and self-esteem.

Program Description:

Active Kids Club: A group mentoring program for children involved in our organization. Meeting monthly, our clients will have the opportunity to interact with various BGM mentors while exploring their community and engaging in fun adventures, games and activities. By creating a village effect, our mentees have the opportunity to learn from a variety of mentors who can each invest in them in different ways.

Individual Matches: When our mentors make a connection with a mentee, we provide the opportunity for them to meet one on one in their community. These matches give the mentee individual attention and are the ideal way to target growth and personal development.

School Buddies: This collaboration effort with local schools provides positive mentors to children struggling with a variety of roadblocks affecting their ability to focus on their studies. Providing mentors to spend time with students, gives the child an opportunity to refocus resulting in better behaviour and attention in school.

Abbeyfield Durham Senior Housing

Abbeyfield Houses

Abbeyfield Houses Society of Durham.

Our community opened in December 2002.
Abbeyfield is a non-profit housing option for seniors.  Abbeyfield offers seniors the opportunity to have the privacy of their own living area and the support of a house coordinator who manages the building and cooks meals.

Abbeyfield offers a warm, family-style House and a balance between privacy and companionship, security and independence, combined with the special caring element provided by dedicated volunteers and the consistency of a single House manager.

Age and loneliness are the prime considerations for residency, together with level of health and compatibility with other residents.

Abbeyfield Durham is a non profit charitable organization, managed by local volunteers through a Board of Directors.
We are part of a group of Abbeyfield Houses Societies around the world.  We are a member of Abbeyfield Canada and Abbeyfield International.
